About
Williams Memorial

Our History
The story of our church began in 1923, when the growing community of Ravenna, Kentucky, recognized the need for a place of worship. Representatives from several Baptist churches in the region—along with 23 charter members—gathered at the Jones Building on Main Street to establish a new congregation. Led by Rev. W.G. Potts as Moderator and Bro. A.C. Conway as Clerk, the church was officially organized as the First Baptist Church of Ravenna. The church adopted the Eighteen Articles of Faith of the Southern Baptist Convention and joined the Boone’s Creek Association.

By early 1924, efforts were underway to establish a permanent home for the congregation. On February 3, 1924, the church purchased a lot at Fourth and Poplar Streets and later borrowed $2,500 to construct a building. On August 23, 1926, the church was renamed "Williams Memorial Baptist Church" in honor of M.E. Williams, whose generous $6,000 contribution cleared the church’s debts.
Today, we continue to honor our rich history while looking forward to a future of worship, fellowship, and service.

Our Mission
We are committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through praise, prayer, love, and discipleship—and creating a welcoming environment where individuals and families can experience a life-changing relationship with Jesus in a growing church community.
Guided by the authority of Scripture, we believe that every member should be a believer, every believer should become a disciple, and every disciple should serve as a minister. Together, we strive to worship God wholeheartedly, proclaim His Word, build strong community among believers, and witness to the world He loves.
Through our dedication to Christian family values and spiritual growth, we seek to glorify God in all that we do. We invite you to join us on this journey of faith as we grow together in Christ.
